Healthy Green Juice Smoothie Recipe
I understand. YET ANOTHER recipe for green juice. There are hundreds of them about. Guess what, this one is fantastic since you can create a huge amount that will last you a few days. Who has time every morning to prepare a smoothie? Not me!
I am devoted to maintaining my healthy lifestyle, and I hope that sharing what works for me can encourage you to try something new or keep you on track.
I was the first to admit that green juice wasn’t for me. In fact, I scoffed at it for quite long time. But when I eventually tasted it, it wasn’t terrible at all. I even like it now! When my partner mentioned brewing green juice at home, I didn’t think he’d stay with it. He was eager to prove me incorrect as soon as I stated that.
After squandering $5-10 per day on sugary store-bought drinks, we bought a Vitamix and began preparing our own. I’ve used both a Ninja and a Vitamix, and although I prefer the Vitamix for juices, this can be prepared in any big blender.
Lets talk about whats inside.
Spinach is my preferred vegetable over kale. Kale is more grainy in my opinion. We’ve also had weeks when we blended in both, which wasn’t that awful.
How to Make Green Juice Smoothies
I fill the blender with roughly one cup of water. This not only prevents the smoothie from becoming overly thick, but it also aids in the mixing of the components.
Spinach, cucumbers, avocado, and green apples go into my smoothies. We sometimes add green grapes for a touch of sweetness.
The cucumber provides extra veggies without interfering with the flavor. Because of the inherent sugars in fruit, it is vital to attempt to make this more vegetable than fruit.
Adding avocado to this juice also helps to give it more of a smoothie consistency. The avocado also makes this drink more full, allowing it to stay with you for longer. The only reason I call this a smoothie rather than a juice is because of the added consistency provided by the avocado.
Because green apples are tarter than other apples, I like them in this smoothie. It may really be substituted for any sort of apple!
I experimented with bananas and pineapples. Both are effective. Because my partner dislikes bananas, we seldom include them. Because of the added sugar, I stopped adding the pineapple. However, I discovered that pineapple does not mix well with some of the juice’s other ingredients. This indicates that it is more difficult to digest when the components do not combine correctly.
I tried half a stock of celery. Yuck. I can’t tolerate the flavor. I even tried adding carrot once, but the green fluid became dark. I wasn’t thrilled with the flavor either.
My sister is a dietician who runs the Raw Wellness blog. She specializes in personal training, professional nutrition advice, and yoga instruction. Have I mentioned that we are basically polar opposites? Aside than that, I’ve never done yoga.
She sent me this meal combination chart, which shows which foods don’t pair well for digestion. Which means our bodies aren’t feeling good. To be honest, I don’t follow this as strictly as I should, but it’s a great resource for me to use when making juice at home.
Why I Love This Recipe
My recipe yields around 48 oz. This makes enough for four green juice smoothies. I normally drink a glass of juice on my way to work before eating my breakfast. It’s an excellent way to include more greens into your diet without having to consume yet another salad.
With this recipe, I make juice every 2-3 days rather of every day. Seriously, I’m too lazy to prepare this every morning. It just takes 10 minutes from start to finish (including dishes), but believe me when I say I’d rather sleep for 10 more minutes. Making the juice might seem like a chore at times, but I’m always glad to have it on hand. If I’m very hungry, I could try a glass before a meal to prevent overeating.
In terms of Weight Watcher Points, you must calculate the points depending on the items you use and the number of ounces you get from your recipe. Despite the fact that the components are all 0 points (save for the avocado), this drink will have 2-3 points. I phoned Weight Watchers because I was perplexed as to why, when I cook this as a recipe, it has points but has 0 points on my tracker. According to how they presented it to me, combining specific meals modifies the response of the foods, thereby equaling points.
I’m simply glad to have the extra nutrition. Sure, it increases my daily points, but they are nutritious and beneficial points. Bottom line: Don’t be afraid of green juice! Try different things until you discover something that works for you!
